VITAL POLICY – Congressman Burchett Visits Jefferson County Business

During the August recess, Second District Congressman Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) took some time to visit small businesses in East Tennessee and Jefferson County. A recent stop was in Strawberry Plains at More than Plants, a local full-service nursery and landscaping supply business operated by County Commissioner Rob Blevins and family.

Burchett has a reputation for supporting small business and makes it a point to visit them as his schedule permits. “This gives me an opportunity to connect with my constituents and small business owners.” – Tim Burchett

The extreme western portion of Jefferson County remains in Burchett’s Second Congressional District after a shift in population made it necessary for the legislature to redraw the First Congressional District further west. Burchett represented most of Jefferson County until the boundary lines were recently moved.

Joining Burchett on his tour of More Than Plants was County Commissioners Austin Brooks and Marcus Reed, Constable Mackey Wilson, employees of More Than Plants, several citizens and small business owners, members of Empowered Jefferson, and Paul Hardy, candidate for Jefferson County School Board.

Burchett discussed federal policies and listened to the concerns of citizens during his stop in Jefferson County.
