FREE Vessel Examinations this Saturday

The U. S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct free vessel safety examinations on Saturday, May 25, at Swann’s Marina, 2515 Swann’s Marina Road, Dandridge, TN 37725.

Coast Guard Auxiliary certified vessel examiners will perform a free Vessel Safety Check (VSC) for your boat (personal pleasure craft, only) anytime between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. No appointment needed, just show up. There is no charge, and no consequences if you don’t pass. Our goal is simply to help make boating as safe as possible for you, your family and your friends, through education.

An examiner inspects your equipment, like navigation lights and life jackets, to help you be safe on the water. If your boat meets all requirements, it earns the VSC decal. Paddle craft (kayaks, canoes, and Stand-Up Paddle Boards) can receive an inspection too. Your decal may offer third-party benefits – talk to your insurance provider to learn more. The decal also lets the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency know that your vessel meets all their requirements too.

Boaters are urged to take advantage of programs offered by the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the U.S. Power Squadron; volunteer organizations dedicated to promoting safe boating. To find out more, visit www.cgaux.org or www.usps.org
