Office of Evidence and Impact Releases Updated Education to Employment Dashboard

The Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration’s Office of Evidence and Impact (OEI) has released an updated dashboard illustrating Tennessee students’ educational achievement and employment outcomes.

“OEI works with state departments to support their efforts to make evidence and data-driven decisions,” said Department of Finance and Administration Commissioner Jim Bryson. “This updated dashboard represents the hard work of OEI and multiple state departments to provide even better insights into our state’s educational outcomes. This dashboard showcases our commitment to transparency to the public and stakeholders and provides needed insights into how Tennessee graduates are succeeding in the workforce.”

The Education to Employment dashboard incorporates aggregate student outcome data with employment data from Tennessee’s enterprise data analytics platform, TN DATA (Data Analytics for Transparency and Accountability). It provides insight into the state’s high school and postsecondary graduates by instructional program area and their wages one to five years after graduation.

The dashboard leverages data submitted to the OEI-managed TN DATA from the Tennessee Higher Education Commission, Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association, Tennessee Department of Education, Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development, and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.

The new updates include:

  • Overall simplified and streamlined education and employment outcomes details.
  • Updated data for graduation cohorts 2018-2022.
  • Data included in the dashboard is for all awards received for each graduate, rather than only their highest award received, as in the prior version.
  • Education (award level) variable categories were combined to simplify data visualization and report more details.
  • Wage data was changed to be inflation-adjusted wages instead of wages at a point in time, making the dashboard more dynamic and comparable.
  • New visualizations to display employment outcomes by major field, award level, and time after graduation combined.
