W.D. Henry Elected As 8th District Commissioner By County Commission
The Jefferson County Commission held their regular voting meeting this week. Absent from Roll Call was Commissioner Lowe. Boy Scout Troop #76 from Jefferson City led the Pledge of Allegiance. A Hometown Hero honorary proclamation was given to the late Herbert G. Williams and was received by his family. Resolution 2025-59 honoring Terry Dockery for his service as a Jefferson County Commissioner was unanimously approved.
Commissioner Dockery resigned his position representing District 8 and last month the Commission failed to reach a simple majority of 11 votes to appoint a replacement to serve the remaining months of Dockery’s term.
Dockery requested in his resignation letter that WD Henry be appointed as his replacement. Jeff Fox was also nominated from the floor. In two rounds of voting neither men received the required 11 votes during this month’s meeting with Fox receiving 8 votes and Henry receiving 10 votes. A third vote was taken before adjournment in which Henry received the required 11 votes seating him as Commissioner for District 8.
Several committee appointments were approved unanimously. Budget amendments, as approved by the budget committee, were approved by the full body. Funding for a new landfill shredder at a cost of $775,338 to come from split funding of half from county general fund and half from an inter local loan was unanimously approved upon a motion from Commissioner Bales and 2nd by Commissioner Douglas.
A Short Term Rental Resolution was approved (3 voting No ) after going back and forth on parameters for several voting sessions. 9 surplus resolutions were unanimously approved.
