Low Early Voting Numbers Persist In Jefferson County As Election Day Approaches

Low early voting numbers persist in Jefferson County, as Election Day approaches. Despite a full ballot and several highly contested local offices, voting totals are not keeping up the pace with the last highly contested election in 2018. Predictions for a large voter turnout have not come to fruition with only 3,023 votes being cast countywide as of 12:30 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2026. The total early vote count for 2018, which was the last time that up ticket local offices were contested, was 4,495. This primary cycle early voting is averaging around 300 votes per day.  Continuation of this pattern of voting would leave Jefferson County early voting more than 400 early votes short of 2018, even though this year satellite voting locations have full time operating hours instead of the part time hours of past elections. Jefferson County has around 38,000 registered voters.
