Steps of Hope 5K Set for Saturday Morning at Dandridge’s Field of Dreams
DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — The community will come together this Saturday morning at the Field of Dreams Activity Center for the Steps of Hope 5K, a walk/run dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable children in East Tennessee. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m., with the event hosted by Rescue 180, a local nonprofit with the race focusing on helping children entering state custody due to parental arrest, emergency removal, or other crisis situations.
A Mission Rooted in Compassion
Rescue 180 launched the Steps of Hope 5K as a way to raise both awareness and financial support for children who often enter state custody with little more than the clothes they are wearing. Funds raised through the event help provide essential items, comfort bags, and immediate need resources for these children as they transition into safer environments.
A Community Event for All Ages
The 5K is designed as a family friendly walk/run, welcoming participants of all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds. Organizers expect families, civic leaders, local businesses, and supporters from across Jefferson County and East Tennessee to take part. The Field of Dreams Activity Center—located at 1145 Treadway Drive in Dandridge—offers a spacious, accessible venue with ample room for runners, walkers, and spectators.
Why It Matters
Children entering state custody face sudden upheaval, uncertainty, and emotional trauma. Steps of Hope gives the community a tangible way to stand beside them. Every registration, donation, and volunteer hour directly supports Rescue 180’s mission to ensure no child faces crisis alone.
