2013 Jefferson County FCE Quilt Show

The 2013 Jefferson County FCE Quilt Show will be March 21st at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. The Family and Community Education (FCE) Clubs of Jefferson County host this show for the community. Everyone is invited to exhibit and participate in the show and it is open to all interested persons who reside in Jefferson County only as well as FCE members from all counties. If you would like to participate or view the Quilt Show, please see the following time schedule:

Registering of Quilts: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Judging of Quilts: 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Quilts on Display to the Public: 12:45 to 2:00 p.m.

Removal of Quilts: 2:00 p.m. (no quilt will be removed prior to 2:00 p.m.)

The following are the Quilt Show rules:

1. Only ONE quilt per person per lot (you cannot compete against yourself).

2. Please know before registering which lot your quilt will be entered (see the following categories).

3. Quilt must not have been entered in a previous show unless quilter is exhibiting only (Category VIII).

4. Old quilts (25 years +) may or may not be made by person entering quilt, but must be owned by that person.

5. Those attending will vote for “People’s Choice” and the Judge(s) will determine the “Best of Show.”

6. If a FCE member’s quilt wins first place, it can be entered in the local Cultural Arts Show. If it places first there, it qualifies to be entered in the Regional FCE Cultural Arts Show. If the quilt wins first there, it qualifies for the State TFCE Cultural Arts Show.

7. Ribbons will be awarded with each lot receiving a blue ribbon (at the discretion of the judge(s).)

The 2013 Quilt Show Categories are as follows:

Category I: Old quilts (25+ years)

Category II: Novelty

Lot 1: Yo-yo

Lot 2: Crazy (hand-pieced and hand-embroidery)

Lot 3: Cathedral

Lot 4: Any other (memory, t-shirt, tied or tacked, rag, cross-stitched and/or embroidery- hand pieced and hand quilted, cross-stitched and/or embroidery- hand pieced and machine quilted, cross-stitched and/or embroidery- machine pieced and machine quilted, cross-stitched and/or embroidery- machine pieced and hand quilted, original design by quilter (such as designed on computer, transfer technology, etc.))

Category III: Baby Quilt

Lot 1: Pieced

Lot 2: Cross-stitched and/or embroidery

Lot 3: Appliqué

Lot 4: Any other (printed, quilted, tied, etc.)

Category IV: Quilts

Lot 1: Hand pieced and hand quilted

Lot 2: Hand pieced and machine quilted

Lot 3: Machine pieced and machine quilted

Lot 4: Machine pieced and hand quilted

Lot 5: Hand pieced, quilted by 2 or more

Lot 6: Machine pieced, quilted by 2 or more

Lot 7: Appliqué (hand pieced and hand quilted, hand pieced and machine quilted, machine pieced and machine quilted, machine pieced and hand quilted)

Lot 8: Any other (printed top hand or machine, etc.)

Category V: Quilted Wearable Items

Category VI: Accessories and Home Décor Items

Lot 1: Wall hanging

Lot 2: Miscellaneous (door stops, book covers, pillows, table toppers or runners, tree skirts, quillows, purses, jewelry, stuffed animals and toys, etc.)

Category VII: Recycled (items made from an old quilt)

Category X: Exhibit Only

This category will not be judged but for display only. (Usually items that have been exhibited and/or won in a previous show.)
