Jefferson County Schools Rollout 1:1 Initiative

The Jefferson County Schools 20/20 Vision Team was assembled in 2016 to take Jefferson County Schools to the next level with blended and personalized learning. The focus of this team, made up of teachers, administrators, technology leaders, and central office leaders, was to investigate ways to provide students with technology that would promote and enhance learning while equipping them with skills to be contenders in today’s job market. The 20/20 Vision Team goals included:

• Educators working in collaborative partnerships to support innovative approaches to personalized learning
• Students creating personalized learning through engagement as digital citizens
• Parents partnering to support student learning experiences to enhance academic, social, and emotional growth
• Schools embedding technology to personalize instruction to meet individual needs of students

This team was tasked with creating a vision for JCS and a path to achieve these goals in order for our students to remain competitive in an ever changing digital world. In just two short years from the team’s inception, Jefferson County Schools is pleased to announce the rollout of a district-wide 1:1 initiative beginning with the 2018-2019 school year! There will be a laptop computer assigned to all students in grades 6-12 for use at school and at home. Details about this 1:1 rollout will be forthcoming, so parents of students in grades 6-12 should be aware. As always, JCS appreciates your support and partnership as we launch this exciting and promising next step with blended and personalized learning for the students in Jefferson County!
